My name is Kirsten, and this is my story.
I grew up very active and fit, never worrying about my weight. I got married in 2015 to my high school sweetheart, Eric. Shortly after our wedding, I was pregnant. I was scared and not ready at all - I was only 18 years old. Shortly after, I lost the baby.
At the beginning of 2016, I found out I was pregnant again. I was scared, but SO excited to become a parent with the love of my life. At 20 weeks, we found out we were having a baby boy. Overjoyed, we started buying all of his stuff. Four weeks later, we would get the shattering news that he passed away.
I quickly went into a deep depression which resulted in significant weight gain. Three months later, I found out I was pregnant again and weighed over 200 pounds at the time and was so scared to get attached during the pregnancy.
However, we welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world 9 months later.
A year after she was born, my fitness journey started. I knew I needed to make a change. I quickly fell in love with bodybuilding style training. I loved the idea of competing, but I never believed I could actually do it.
I continued with my love for fitness for the next 5 1/2 years while welcoming 2 more beautiful babies into the world with my husband, Eric.
With my body going through so much, I found myself at 210 pounds in 2023. I simply lost hope of being able to slow weight let alone step on a stage to compete in bodybuilding. However, with the right support by my side, I decided to simply dive in. I casually started losing weight, first getting down to 194 pounds.
I slowly changed my mindset. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. So in October 2023, I started prepping for a bodybuilding competition knowing I had a tall mountain to climb.
After 28 weeks of hard work, I shed over 70 pounds to get ready for my first ever show. It was emotional and unforgettable.
